Q.-   God said that He was going to judge Nineveh, but He did not when Jonah preached. – But the bible says that God does not change His mind. Please explain.

A.
Everywhere in Scripture, (and even today), when God announces his intention to send judgment, it carries with it the implicit understanding that if we turn from the sin that is the catalyst for judgment, and return to God, he will forgive and judgment will not come.

This is clearly explained in Ezekiel 33: 11-16
As we read the story of Nineveh, we see that the entire nation, from the palace to the poorhouse, turned to God in repentance. Thus their impending judgment was averted.

The Bible teaches that God does not delight in judgment. But when we violate his laws, we will reap the fruits of our rebellion – judgment.

We remind you to search the scriptures like those noble Berean Christians in Acts 17:11 - "  to see if these things be so. "
